The Best Ion Netbook

The Best Ion Netbook

Netbook is now conquering the world because of its ultra-light, affordable, and offer long battery life. One thing that everyone will sacrifice is a good graphics performance. When the HP Mini 311 with Nvidia’s Ion started its debut months ago, people then realized that netbook can be that tough in doing or experiencing such task that traditional netbooks users will complain about, playing mainstream games, playing high-definition videos, or any other jobs that need strong graphics capabilities. It is hard to find the best Ion netbook out there.

Seems like Atom combined with Ion is now giving a new hope for netbook’s users. Some netbooks have Ion GPU on their machines, like The HP Mini 311, Lenovo IdeaPad S12, ASUS Eee PC 1201N and Samsung N510. Are you looking for the best Ion netbook? The answer is HP Mini 311. If you want to find out more why the HP Mini 311 deserves to be the best Ion netbook then you should visit here.

MSI Wind U160

MSI Wind U160

The MSI Wind U160 is the totally redesigned 10-inch netbook from MSI. The pictures show us that MSI tries to present a trim and classy look from the netbook. At the first look, maybe it will remind us to Toshiba Mini NB205. Inside it has the 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor that now become more popular to be used on some latest netbook as a new standard of netbooks specification. MSI claims the battery will last for more than 10 hours on a charge, and pricing for the U160 will start at around $350. If it is true then maybe this new MSI netbook will get enough attention from the crowd. Here are some pictures of MSI Wind 160,

Toshiba Satellite T115-S1105

Toshiba Satellite T115-S1105

With the rise of ULV (ultra low voltage) processors, now it is really a difficult time for 11 inch laptop. The Toshiba Satellite T115-S1105 is using a single-core Pentium processor, the Intel SU2700. It’s hard to say that it is a netbook. From the size of the display, we can see that the Toshiba Satellite T115-S1105 has 11.6 inches display. Many netbooks have this size as their platform. Like what HP Mini 311 has. With a lower price, it is easy to say that it can beat the Toshiba T115-S1105 on the market. Beside that, the Toshiba T115-S1105 doesn’t have a discrete GPU. Although it starts at $449.

So, is that something to be considered on this laptop? The Toshiba Satellite T115-S1105 has much the same performance and specs as its bigger-screened cousin, the T135-S1300. With a single-core Pentium processor, you cannot demand to get an extreme speed, but on the other hand, this is a better-featured and generally faster-performing machine than most Netbooks,

The look and feel of the T115-S1105 is nearly identical to the T135 line of Toshiba Satellite: very glossy plastic surrounds the outer and inner surfaces, highlighted with chrome lines on the edges. From a short distance it's a great look, but up close the faint checkered pattern and fingerprint-showcasing design make it look a little cheap and plasticky. It is, however, a very comfortably sized laptop to pick up and hold in one hand, managing a size and shape very similar to the Lenovo IdeaPad S12.

Outfitted with a Webcam, a nearly full-size keyboard, and an 11.6-inch glossy screen, the Satellite T115-S1105 is almost a full-size laptop. Lacking an optical drive, however, thins its frame down a bit, and the battery bulk in the rear is engineered to slightly taper down, reducing a sudden "bulging lip" look that can happen on some thin-and-lights, and also providing a bit of keyboard elevation. The keyboard is a bit different than the T135's--it's flat, but it has a matte surface rather than glossy. At first we were quite excited, but the keyboard's also just slightly smaller than full size, with cramped enter and backspace keys and a mushy feel when typing. The wide but thin touch pad below alternated between good responsiveness and complete failure on our review unit, and it didn't improve when we tried updating drivers and software. One user on Toshiba's Web site seems to have encountered the same problem as we did, but then again, it could be faulty hardware on our particular unit. That still doesn't account for the single-bar chrome button below that lacked sufficient "clickyness" and was hard to press--it smacked of useless overdesign. We'd take two discrete unsexy buttons any day.

Its 11.6-inch screen, and with a 1,366x768-pixel resolution, you will be able to have a full-screen Web browse, watch videos, and do your work with no feeling of cramping that normally comes with a Netbook. Picture quality is decent but not spectacular. The built-in audio, on the other hand, is not that good compared with other laptops. The speakers, built in on the front underside, are nearly impossible to hear, but the headphone is special.

One thing that could bother you is the lack of Bluetooth. On the other hand, it does have 802.11n and the very convenient Toshiba sleep-and-charge USB port that turns your laptop into a giant portable battery pack.

With a 250GB hard drive and 2GB of DDR3 RAM, the T115-S1105 has above-average specs than a Netbook, although even Netbooks are increasingly offering similar hard drive and RAM capacities. Now, for a word on the processor: the T115 has a single-core Pentium processor, the Intel SU2700. Definitely, it is not a choice for those who wants any multimedia features.
